Narphu Valley Highlights
Remote and Less Crowded: The Nar Phu Valley is relatively secluded, offering a peaceful trekking experience away from the more popular routes. This provides trekkers with a chance to experience the untouched beauty of the region.
Cultural Exploration: The trek takes you through traditional Tibetan-influenced villages where you can witness the unique culture, customs, and lifestyle of the local people. The inhabitants of Nar and Phu are of Tibetan origin, and their culture remains relatively untouched by modern influences.
Ancient Monasteries and Chortens: The trek includes visits to ancient monasteries and Buddhist chortens, providing insight into the rich religious heritage of the region. One notable site is the Tashi Lhakhang Monastery in Nar Village.
Stunning Scenery: The trek offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges, as well as other peaks like Himlung Himal and Kang Guru. The landscapes vary from alpine forests and terraced fields to high mountain deserts.
High Mountain Passes: The trek includes challenging high mountain passes such as the Kang La Pass (5,322 meters or 17,457 feet) and Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters or 17,769 feet), providing trekkers with a sense of accomplishment and panoramic views.
Narphu Valley Trek itinerary
Day 1-2: Arrival in Kathmandu:
Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Take a day for necessary trek preparations, obtaining permits, and exploring the city.
Day 3: Drive to Syange or Jagat:
Drive from Kathmandu to Syange or Jagat (around 8-10 hours), passing through scenic landscapes.
Day 4: Trek to Dharapani:
Trek from Syange or Jagat to Dharapani, passing through picturesque villages and terraced fields.
Day 5: Trek to Koto:
Continue trekking to Koto, the gateway to the Nar Phu Valley.
Day 6-7: Acclimatization and Exploration in Koto:
Acclimatization day in Koto.
Explore the surroundings, visit local monasteries, and prepare for the Nar Phu Valley entrance.
Day 8: Trek to Meta:
Trek from Koto to Meta, entering the Nar Phu Valley.
Enjoy views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal.
Day 9: Trek to Phu Village:
Trek to the ancient village of Phu.
Explore the village and its monasteries, witnessing the traditional Tibetan culture.
Day 10: Acclimatization and Exploration in Phu:
Acclimatization day in Phu.
Explore the village, visit monasteries, and interact with the locals.
Day 11: Trek to Nar Village:
Trek to Nar Village, passing through scenic landscapes.
Explore Nar Village and its monasteries.
Day 12: Acclimatization and Exploration in Nar:
Acclimatization day in Nar.
Explore the village, visit monasteries, and enjoy the cultural richness.
Day 13: Cross Kang La Pass and Trek to Ngawal:
Cross the Kang La Pass (5,322 meters) and descend to Ngawal.
Spectacular views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges.
Day 14-15: Trek to Manang and Acclimatization:
Trek to Manang and take an extra day for acclimatization.
Explore Manang, visit monasteries, and enjoy the views.
Day 16: Trek to Yak Kharka:
Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka, gaining altitude gradually.
Day 17: Trek to Thorong High Camp:
Trek to Thorong High Camp, preparing for the Thorong La Pass crossing.
Day 18: Cross Thorong La Pass and Trek to Muktinath:
Early morning ascent of Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters).
Descend to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site.
Day 19: Trek to Jomsom:
Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom, passing through the Kali Gandaki River Valley.
Day 20: Fly to Pokhara:
Take a short scenic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara.
Day 21: Drive or Fly back to Kathmandu:
Drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
Rest or explore the city.
