Upper Dolpo -trip itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
Attend a trek briefing and make necessary preparations.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Preparation
Explore cultural and historical sites in Kathmandu, including Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and Pashupatinath.
Finalize trekking permits and preparations.
Day 3: Fly to Nepalgunj
Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, a city in western Nepal.
Overnight stay in Nepalgunj.
Day 4: Fly to Juphal and Trek to Dunai (2,140m/7,021ft)
Take a scenic flight to Juphal and begin the trek to Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpa.
Trek through terraced fields and picturesque villages.
Days 5-7: Trek to Tarakot (2,543m/8,343ft) and Rest Days
Trek to Tarakot, a village along the Thuli Bheri River.
Acclimatization and rest days, explore the surroundings.
Days 8-11: Trek to Laina Odar (3,370m/11,056ft) via Nawarpani
Trek through remote villages like Lahini and Nawarpani.
Reach Laina Odar and enjoy the views of the Kanjiroba Himal.
Days 12-15: Trek to Shey Gompa (4,500m/14,764ft) via Dho Tarap
Trek through the traditional village of Dho Tarap.
Visit monasteries and experience the unique culture of the region.
Days 16-18: Rest Days in Shey Gompa and Explore Crystal Mountain
Acclimatization and exploration of the Crystal Mountain.
Experience the spiritual significance of the region.
Days 19-21: Cross Shey La Pass (5,160m/16,929ft) to Namgung
Trek over the Shey La Pass with stunning views.
Descend to Namgung, a village near the border of Tibet.
Days 22-23: Trek to Saldang (3,770m/12,368ft)
Trek to Saldang, one of the largest villages in Dolpo.
Explore the ancient monasteries and traditional architecture.
Days 24-25: Trek to Yangze Gompa and Return to Juphal
Trek to Yangze Gompa and visit the monastery.
Return to Juphal and fly back to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu.
Day 26: Departure from Kathmandu
Depart from Kathmandu or extend your stay to explore more of Nepal
